Commemorative Painting -OWN A PIECE OF TENNIS HISTORY

OFFICIAL MILLENNIUM PRINT OF THE THE OLDEST LAWN TENNIS CLUB IN THE WORLD

From the original oil painting, commissioned by Edgbaston Archery & Lawn Tennis Society to mark the millennium and its 140th year, this is a print to grace any collection of lawn tennis memorabilia.
Founded in 1860, the Society has occupied its present grounds, in Westbourne Road, Birmingham, since 1867 and is recognised as the oldest lawn tennis club in the world.
The painting depicts summer evening play on the Societyıs grass courts which are still in their original positions - thus the earliest lawn tennis surface still in regular use anywhere in the world today.
The prints, a limited edition of 500, are each individually numbered and signed by the artist Anthony Yates ARBSA.

The Artist

Anthony Yates, ARBSA, was born in 1957 in Aston, Birmingham and still lives in the city, now in Harborne.
He studied at Bournville College of Art and spent a number of years in commercial art studios before turning full-time painter.
Exhibiting widely, he has shown in London, Bristol, Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham and has his work in many private collections.
In April 1998 he was elected an Associate of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
